We all fear being left out, being exposed as outsiders. Jesus constantly encountered people―like us―who were longing to belong. Luke himself was an outsider to Jesus’ community, and yet there he found a new family and a new future. In his Gospel, we discover how Jesus responded to people like us. Jesus didn’t simply redraw the lines and create a wider circle. He erased the lines by drawing all people to Himself, no matter their social status.
